Wetland Biofilter
The Micheal S. Van Leesten bridge is a controversial public project which cost $20 million. The city of providence has further spent millions attempting to make that area more appealing for tourists and visitors.
A large proportion of people surveyed in this space indicate that it is naturally lacking, and they would prefer to see more vegetation and wildlife. The providence river is heavily polluted and detracts from the potential of the area. This proposal benefits the cities ongoing efforts in trying to purify the Providence River and bring more visitors to the city. As a scalable system, the wetland biofilter can set a standard for integrating re-wilding techniques in urban environments.
